about
When the pandemic hit Kennedy found himself on the frontlines as an emergency room physician. It wasn't long before he turned to music as an outlet for the stress that was building up within and around him. The Self You Used To Know was written early in 2020, but the words to its uplifting chorus have grown even more significant with the passage of time.
lyrics
Longest days.
Never really seem to drift away.
Keep holding on to yesterday.
Just holding on too long.
Westward ho.
Past places that you used to know.
But they don't recognize you anymore.
'Cause those days have come and gone.
But tonight.
Breathe slow.
Take everything that's wrong.
And let it go.
'Cause it's high time.
Your light it glowed.
And you find the self you used to know.
City's hype.
Left you longing for those country nights.
The stars are out you're counting satellites.
Stoking embers 'til the dawn.
So tonight.
Breathe slow.
Take everything that's wrong.
And let it go.
'Cause it's high time.
Your light it glowed.
And you find the self you used to know.
Well you put out a fire.
Just to breathe in the smoke.
Dreamed of moving on.
But you know you won't.
'Cause you're lost down the lanes.
Of those lions you tamed.
And though some things never change.
You learn to love it just the same.
And tonight.
Breathe slow.
Take everything that's wrong.
And let it go.
'Cause it's high time.
Your light it glowed.
And you find the self that you used to know.
